EDGAR Release 26.3: Updates to Form 13F Templates and XBRL Taxonomies

What happened?

On September 14, 2026, the SEC deployed EDGAR Release 26.3. The release includes several updates to the EDGAR filing website and to XBRL support. One change is especially relevant to XBRL filers: the retirement of older 2024 taxonomy versions.

Key Changes

EDGAR Release 26.3:

  • Revises the submission templates for Forms 13F and 13F-CTR to correct a labeling error;
  • Disallows the US GAAP/2024, SRT/2024, and IFRS/2024 taxonomies;
  • Disallows the 2024 versions of the CEF, COUNTRY, CURRENCY, CYD, DEI, ECD, EXCH, FFD, FND, NAICS, OEF, RXP, SBS, SIC, SNJ, SRO, STPR, and VIP taxonomies; and
  • Disallows the interim release versions FFD/2024q2, FND/2024q3, OEF/2024q3, RXP/2024q3, and VIP/2024q4.

What does this mean for me?

If you file iXBRL, check that your filings are tagged with a currently supported taxonomy, because EDGAR will no longer accept the 2024 versions listed above.
